Trouble With Wireless Bluetooth Desktop

Hello.

Well, after my last post I actually got my USB ports to work. All my USB peripherals work. The only problem I'm having is trying to get my Micro***t Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse to get detected. I tried looking for new drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling various things, and asking MS tech support which has done a shabby job helping me. Basically, this is the problem:

I install fresh drivers/software for the desktop (keyboard + mouse) w/ no peripherals occupying any of my USB ports. So then I'm supposed to plug in my wireless transceiver and supposedly, the transceiver will be picked up and installed so that I may continue the steps that it gives me. The thing is, nothing is being picked up or detected. I've tried different sets of batteries, new sets of batteries (on the keyboard + mouse, the transceiver has no batteries), but still nothing works. It should work b/c it has in the past (the only thing was a different case). I know nothing is wrong w/ my USB ports b/c I use various other USB devices and they work fine. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can help me w/ this problem. Thanks. Peace...
