trouble with Windows Media Player 9 and Real and IE

hi,

I'm having a bit of trouble with Windows Media Player 9. When I try to listen some internet radio stations (like gotradio.com or MSN radio), which open up in a small browser window, they don't play at all. the status says connecting to media and just stays there. These used to work fine before. I tried it on a friend's PC and it works just fine there.

I don't know if they're related but somehow, Real Player just doesn't detect that i'm connected to the internet. This just started happening yesterday. I tried un-installing and re-installing it, but to no avail.

I tried to download IE 6 from download.com to reinstall it. After downloading that initial small utility, it then tries to connect but just says that unable to connect. What's going on?

I'm able to use the internet just fine otherwise. I can go to pretty much all the websites, use IM's, listen to internet radio in Windows Media Player 9 which plays in the media player window itself (choiceradio). I have no clue what's going on. I have all the latest updates to all of them.

I'm running windows XP SP1 with all the critical updates installed, media player has all updates installed. Someone please help!!!

Could it be that you don't have any open ports other than port 80? Check your firewall or do a netstat -an (RUN box>type CMD>type netstat -an).
