Trouble with Video card install (Onboard keeps detecting)

Am having an odd problem here that i can't figure out.

Trying to install an TNT2 PCI Vid card into a system with onboard Video.
i was able to get this workng once before untill i had to do a reinstall of windows due to an NIC problem.

the problem is,no matter what i do to disable the Onboard Video,it will auto detect at windows everytime.
i've disabled it in the Bios, and disabled it in windows.
so only options i had was to install default drivers or its own drivers, then disable it so i could try and install the TNT2.
but everytime my TNT2 picks up in windows,i installed the Drivers then get conflicts in device manager.

heres what the conflicts are showing:

This Device can not find any Memory Range Reources to use (Code 12)

then under the resource Tab of the TNT2,heres the conflicts: (3 Memory Range are having Conflicts)

Memory Range 00000000-00FFFFFF used by:
System Board extension for ACPI Bios

Memory Range 00000000-01FFFFFF used by:
System Board extension for ACPI Bios

Memory Range 00000000-0000FFFF used by:
System Board extension for ACPI Bios

i am totally confused here and have tried everything i can think of.
the Onboard which is an 1Mb Intel 810 chipset, works fine when installed by itself.
and the TNT2 worked fine with the Intel installed once before for a few months, but now i can't get it to install at all.

shows that its installed when i go into SafeMode with no problems, but once in windows it has the conflicts.

Specs:

Junk Compaq 5000 with onboard 1Mb Intel Vid
Win98SE
TNT2 PCI Vid card

if anyone can help me here i'd appreciate it.
trying to get my 10 year olds nephew back going for him to play some Counter-Strike. 🙂
and sorry for the long post.

I'd check for a BIOS update. Also, after you install the nVidia drivers, can you go to the device manager and remove the onboard video? Does it still redetect after doing that? Try just disabling (not removing) the onboard video in the device manager.

Ok i checked the board for a jumper to disable the Onboard Video with no luck.

But i did find the jumper to disable the Onboard Sound. (which is not installed)
so i decided to disable it just to see.
and the TNT2 was working fine after that.

and everytime i enable the Sound jumper,it will do the same thing again.TNT2 will have conflicts.
i could always throw a soundcard in it i guess, but would like to use the onboard if possible.

Maggotry, after i install the TNT2 Drivers i can remove the onboard Video, but it keeps detecting it again at startup.
and yes i've tried just disabling it in Device manager with same problem.

only thing i can think is maybe install the Onboard Sound/Video first, then try to install the TNT2.
just seems odd it would work taht way.

and yes,a new Bios update would be nice.except theres no markings on this board, and it seems compaqs site has different info then the Compaq 5000 that i have here.

Isn't there also a setting in the BIOS that let's you choose which type of video to look for first...PCI or AGP.
I know there is on my board (8kha+). Make sure that is set to AGP. Not sure if that will help, but it's worth a try.

He's using a PCI video card.

Hehe...yeah its a PCI vid.
only settings in the Bios for Video however,is one to disable Onboard, and set IRQ for whichever slot i have the PCI Vid in.
and also there one setting that changes onboard Video to Non-Boot,and then change a Vid to Primary. (which is showing Slot3 where the TNT2 is in)
