i just got the new motherboard and i installed it with a duron 600 that i planed to over clock, now i dont know if its the processor or the motherboard. the trouble is, it wont even post most of the time, it may turn the monitor on, and show the video bios screen but thats very rare and thats where it stops. if it does i get bios checksum error insert bootable disk, i removed everything from the board exept the vid card which is a gf2, i even tried my old vid card which is a tnt, and i know that everything is working because if i put it in my old computer it works fine, i dont know what it is and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. im leaning to the processor but im not sure. thanks for the help.

My Abit was a little flakey when I first booted it up. So before I tried anything else I reset the bios by using the bios reset jumper on the PCB. This way I knew that the bios was at it's default settings. My flakeyness went away and I proceded to tweek away. With what I read online I went with the beta bios when I set the raid up, increased stability.

I heard about some problem where the KT7 initially does not give enough juice to the Duron. From what I understand, the problem was fixed by using a pencil to connect all of the L7 bridges, which will default the Duron to 1.85V. When it boots after that, go into the BIOS and set the correct voltage.

I had essentially the same problem. It turned out to be the power supply for me. If you've got another P/S, I suggest you hook it up temporarily to the new system and see if things stabilize for you.

Good luck.

Technonut,

The problem you refer too was with the TL BIOS only and Durons from week 32 and later. If I recall, the system would stop at the memory testing during the post.
