Trouble with no board lan

I am having problems with the marvell on board lan on the asus k8v se deluxe mb. The driver installes correctly but when I plug in the cable there is no connection. Any help.
 
The adapter is enabled in the BIOS, the correct drivers are installed, and Windows says that the device is working properly. When a cable in plugged into the onboard NIC and my router, Windows says that the network connection is unplugged (!) and the connection light on my router stays unlit. I've tried two perfectly good cables that worked with the onboard NIC on my NF7 and are working with the old Linksys PCI NIC that I threw in the system so I could have internet access.

I am NOT impressed with this board so far. Nothing but instability and problems.
