Trouble with Mac Mail

Injury

Lifer
This is baffling the hell out of me. A co-worker was receiving email fine and dandy until about 9am and then it just stopped. The connections were not changed, I don't think any software updates were made, and the login/password has been verified by checking mail via web mail.

Mail seems to go out, but when you click "Get Mail", it seems like it's working but nothing new comes in. (and there are definitely new emails waiting as checking the web mail itself shows them.)

I deleted the mail cache... everything I've read shows that doesn't do a damn thing and it certainly didn't fix and problems.

I can't figure it out at all.

The settings are the exact same as everyone else here (save for user/pass). We're all running 10.4

Can't give you a solution, and not sure this would be covered, but the the July issue of Mac World has a complete rundown of mail options for Macs. Might be worth a read (I haven't read yet, it's pretty comprehensive).

Hope it could help, but I'm sure someone else would have an answer for you anyhow...

Good luck, Noel

So I set up a new user account on the computer and set up mail, and on downloading it got the same email and stopped.

Did the same on another computer and same results.

Our IT guy is in contact with the company that does our mail as it is clearly a problem on their end (possibly a corrupted email or junk attachment or something.)

As soon as you said that it stopped at the exact same email, I figured that it was something to do with that rather than Mail. However, before you had said that I honestly had no good recommendations.

Not sure if this will help you out but I had a problem with my mac mail as well. I currently have Optimum Online (NY) and apparently they block certain ports (587). In order to get my mail working correctly I had to setup the account and then turn my wifi off. From there a box popped up and I was able to configure the connections and whatnot. You may want to check into if your ISP is blocking incoming/outgoing ports and go from there.
