Trouble with IE5

Tried the Technical Support forum with no response so I'll try here.

I have a machine running 98se that won't keep any history in Explorer. In settings under "Disk Space To Use" it says 0 and can't be changed.Changing it gives an error saying "please set to a valid number between 1 and 0". According to settings there is no folder for storage as it says "current location: blank". The History folder and Temporary internet folders are both in their proper spot and they are empty.

Any Ideas???

Under settings there should be a "move folder" button, click it and assign a folder to store the files. If that does not work, download IE 5.5 and install it, it should set itself up properly.

have you tried the repair option?
in control panel/add|remove programs choose IE5>remove & in the new dialogue box choose repair.

I tried the move folder option and I get a message stating that there will not be enough space to store the files even though my temp and history are empty.

I don't have IE5 in my add/remove list to try the repair option.

thanks for the help. Any more ideas?

you should be able to edit the registry to specify what directory to put the temporary internet files into. i have win 2000 so i cant tell you exactly what you will need to edit.

Thanks for the replies guys. Helikon that did the trick, what a bizarre problem.Sorry for the delayed thanks but I'm on vacation and not checking in much.

Thanks
