trouble with Dod ect.. after hl update please help.

I've been having trouble with my system ever since the last patch!!! I played totally error free untill now..If I'm lucky I can get into a game but lately I have alot of trouble getting into a TFC,CS or dod game without getting an error or getting booted to my desk top when the map changes.... But now I get HL caused an invalid page fault in Kernal32.dll...After I close that error box and try to open the game agin I get HL caused an invalid page fault in module (unknown) at 0000:b00db600 and then all the stack dump info....WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH MY SYSTEM???

MY SYSTEM SPECS ARE:
xp 1700+
512Mb RAM cruical
geforce 2ti500
sound blaster live 5.1
Win98SE
All drivers on the system above are current!!


any suggestions hepful.....

also I have just reinstalled windows, and hl and all updates and it didn't help.

Could be vidcard drivrs, but from the DoD site it seems that putting a "-nocd music" tag in your HL startup solves some problems.
