Trouble with 75GXP

I just got one of those 120GB WD hard drives and wanted to move stuff over from my 15GB 75GXP. So I started looking at some mp3's that I wanted to bring over when all of a sudden, the window closed up on me and my computer didn't see the 15GB anymore. I restarted the system recognized it, but as a different hard drive, with a different name. When I go to Disk Management under admin tools, and it see's my 15GB as a 633.3GB unallocated drive. DoH! So ya, I don't want to reformat dangit, I still have stuff I want to pull off of it. Any solutions? Thanks...

Can't you throw it in the freezer for a while, then hook it up and try to get your needed files? I've heard of that trick before. Anyone else???

I dont know who you herd from, but i guess you can try it out.

you are gonna RMA it already, so it wouldn't hurt to try, and report back to us with your results.. =)

Have you run the IBM DFT program? That could rule out some other problem. You can download it from their website.

I heard somebody pose the harddrive in the freezer trick to an "expert" on TechTV, and the "expert" basically brushed it off as "harddrive legend."

wow.
how about double checking all your cables/connections. Since you just put a new IDE drive on perhaps they aren't plugged in perfectly?
Is the drive making noise? Grinding or squealing?

How about booting to DOS? can you see your files there?
