Trouble with 6300 & Asus P5V-VM DH

I have just bought a budget compo of c2d 6300 - Asus P5V-VM DH motherboard and 1 giga of Jetram 533 (Transcend?).

I had several problems. At first the bios was at 301 and now it is on 501 and that helped to pass a lot of problems booting.

But still, while the cpu speed and the memory is shown at the start ok, after the IDE drives scan i get:

memory test fail

and i can't do anything, even go into bios. I have spend alomst a day trying to make this work. Could that be a problem with the memory ?

ANY ideas are much appreciated.

... well it seems that sometimes it doesn't display that error and i'm allowed to go into the bios.

Should i return them or i could search more ?
