Trouble setting up DSL

Hope someone here can help. Recently got my DSL modem from Cavalier telephone here in Va. Used the CD to set up IP and other info. Got Modem hooked up fine. Bad part is not able to get signal out. All lights on Modem are a go. Tried to ping couldn't get signal out. Talked w/ techies at cavalier and they were able to ping my ethernet card and modem. But no signal out. Suggested disabeling Firewall and antivirus. Did this still no luck. All they could provide. Anyone got any other ideas?

Don't know if this will help. With my dsl, where it asks for username, instead of entering in my username, it is neccesary to enter in my email addy instead. Maybe your setup is the same. Worth a try. If your provider can't fix, keep after them. Perhaps the modem is bad. Let us know.

Recently had a similar situation to that at work. There were 2 computers at a desk. One(A) could ping a 3rd machine (C), while the 2nd unit(B) could not. Turns out that when we upgraded our DNS software, the (C) machine had multiple DNS entries. (A) could ping it until it received the newest DNS entries.
What I'm saying is, to check that Cavalier has the same IP address listed for you that you see when you type in from a command line "ipconfig /all". You may also have to a IP release & renew "ipconfig /renew".
