Trouble ripping MP3s from a CD-R

Maybe someone can help me, maybe not. I'm trying to use EAC to rip some mp3s i have on a CD-R to my HD. Using the LAME encoder, and it's not working well. I don't quite know what i'm doing, but i followed a guide and it seems like it should be working. I'm getting a lot of read and sync errors though. For some reason it keeps telling me it's going to take 4+ hours to rip, then it freezes at one point. The CD only has 10 average size tracks on it, so it doesn't seem like it should take that long, even though i would like to rip it at a slow speed... just not THAT slow. Then after it freezes, i X out of it, and see that it copied only 2 of the tracks correctly, the other 3 were all under 500kb, which isn't right. Then the track that it froze on is like 50mb. So something is messed up. Any Pro EAC users out there? :/
