Thank the lord that you cannot install that piece of crap browser and install a real browser such as Firefox or Chrome

Can you be more specific? Are you getting an error message when you try to install? Are you trying to install via Windows Update or a standalone installer?

Make sure Internet Explorer is selected in 'Turn Windows features on or off' section of Programs and Features.

You could always skip that version and go straight to ie10 (release preview)

Just a little side note but that will also install the windows 7 platform update (also in a pre-release stage) since ie10 requires some of the features provided by it.

I may be wrong but ie9 should be available through windows update. Not sure what happens if you uninstall that update. I thought Microsoft considered it a critical update, which to be fair, you might as well install it even if you don't use it.

No if you disable it from the Cotrol Panel Programs & Features you no longer see it in the Windows Updates thank god :whiste:

You can either install it manually or renable the checkbox of IE in the Programs & Features / Turn Windows Features on or off, then the update from IE 8 to IE 9 will appear in the Windows Updates
