i have a Gainward Ti4200 Golden Sample and can't get it to hold its settings when i OC it. i've done it in the past, but its been a while. i decided to try it again b/c i just started playing my games again. i'm using the coolbits registry entry to enable the OC utility in the detonator 44.03 drivers. i've tried increasing the core and memory clocks in both large and small increments, together at the same time and also individually. no matter how i try it, here's what happens: i make the adjustments to the core or memory clocks, or both. i then click the test button. i then check the "apply settings at startup" box. then i restart. when i get back into windows, i go back to the display properties, only to find that the video card has defaulted back to its original settings. any ideas why my video card is doing this? maybe its a software problem, not hardware? help?

there is a program that must run at startup in order to change your clock speeds to what you set in the control panel. I can't remember it at the moment now because i've ditched my ti4200 in favor of a 9800np, but try going into msconfig and looking under the "startup" section.

Thanks! that's all i needed to know. i hate it when windows starts with several unnecessary programs in the background, so i always disable what isn't necessary to keep my system from crawling along. anyways, i just had to reactivate the NvCpl.dll file on startup to allow the overclock. i disabled it some time ago, but that did the trick...thanks again, appreciate it...
