trouble joining forum

a few of my friends are trying to join the forums and get a name, but it keeps saying they are forbidden to post messages, etc, and it wont let them sign up. anyone else have this problem? thanks.
 
They need to make sure they aren't trying to register using one of the prohibited e-mails such as hotmail, AOL, etc.
