Trouble install modem in XP

I have a Diamond SupraMax 2750 56k modem I'm trying to install in XP. From my experience, I've always had a hard time installing these in a windows operating system. Well XP is no different. The website says XP is supported but I can't get it to function properly. At first windows installed it as a generic modem which works fine but every once in a while it will detect the modem as a supramax and not generic. I'm trying to set it up with the proper drivers but I'm having trouble. It took me a while to get the drivers installed but it gives me a code 10 error and says it's not functioning. It also says that some type of soft wate can't be found. Any ideas anyone?
