Actually, impotence is a fairly common occurence in virgin males...the propecia might not be helping, but if you can masturbate while maintaining an erection, then I doubt that's the problem. Sounds more like anxiety, or some other type of psychological block (male erectile disorder).

Talk to a doctor before anything, though. You could try experimenting yourself, and seeing if halting the propecia helps. Then again, who's to say that the halting of the propecia had physiological rather than psychological effects (i.e. you thought stopping it would help, thus you were less anxious and able to maintain the erection). I believe that viagra can be used to deal with impotence caused by propecia, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the advice.

Were it me, and I feel for your plight, I'd have to say: Screw the hair and the propecia, I'd rather have the boner, any day! ;)

My biggest question is, why are you asking this on a computer-related forum and not talk to your family doctor???

Reduce the frequency of your fapping, eat right, get plenty of exercise. Avoid drinking copious quantities of alcohol before getting heavy into it, and try to relax.

Why do people think that everyone has a family doctor?

Family Docs were cool. Ours died in the 70s at age 49, due to complications related to alcoholism. He was one of the most fun drunk guys I've known. He actually made sense a couple times.

THE MOST COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
Clinical tests showed PROPECIA was very well tolerated. Only a very small number of men had sexual side effects, with each occurring in less than 2% of men. They included less desire for sex, difficulty in achieving an erection, and a decrease in the amount of semen. When the men who had these side effects stopped taking PROPECIA, the side effects went away.

Looks like you fall into that 2%: Perhaps you could actually take Viagra to offset these side effects, or find a different medication. But just because you couldn't keep it up doesn't mean the fun had to stop. There are other methods to making her scream you know

go see the Dr. tell him,ask for sampl of Viagra,

you can always kiss her,Australian kisses.

Ok this is a little embaressing.

I am a 21 year old male who has trouble staying "up" when amorous with a female. I can get hard, its just that I lose my erection once things start getting hot.

Tonight for example I invited a girl over to watch a movie and we started making out later on. Then when I was taking off my pants I completely lost it. I also completely lost interest in hooking up with her after that, and I explained to her why I wasn't into it anymore (she was completely understanding) but it was still really embaressing. I am very much attracted to her, so its not like it was a "forced" hookup.

It's not like I'm hooking up with that many girls, this has happened with the 3 girls I've been with in the past 6 months or so. By the way, I am taking Propecia to hopefully prevent future hairloss (my dad is bald)... does anyone know if this actually affects sexual function? Do you think it's just me being nervous and that I need to relax more? Btw I'm a virgin.

I'm being completely serious here and hopefully you guys & gals can suggest something, though I understand I set myself up for some cracks by asking this...

You need to relax more, everyones first time is stressful, my first time when I was 15 was also very stressful. I didn't lose my erection but I didn't last an especially long time. As you become more experienced you'll find sex easier and you will become more confident sexually.

anxiety and nervousness can def cause this. If thats not it you should see a doctor cuz at 21 you should be able to go all day.

Are you out of shape? That may have something to do with it also.

No doubt...I wouldn't be going to an internet COMPUTER forum seeking advice on my reproductive organ.

Naw I'm not out of shape at all, she even told me she thought I have a good body. Again, I've been with her a few times in the past too. There was a little alcohol involved but I wasn't drunk at all. I don't think we were going to have sex, it just really bothered me that I lost my erection.

was it condom related? I used to always have issues with condoms because it's tough to really make stretching an elastic bag over your member be "exciting". I was close to trying viagra, but I found that when my gf was on birth control I didn't encounter the problem again. My fiancee offered to also start taking birth control, but to tell you the truth, these days I prefer condoms just because they make for a cleaner experience.

good luck-

I was going to ask if you were taking any anti-depressants. Like zoloft or prozac. Both of those drugs are very well documented to reduce a man's sexual drive. I have also read that propecia would do the same (lower sex drive in men) and not to be used by women if they are pregnant.

I would recommend having a healthy diet and exercising regularly to keep yourself in shape and energized.. so when the moment "comes" you wont be down... btw your 21, why are you so worried about hairloss? I lose a lot of hair everyday.. its natural (since I'm growing it out)

It's a preventative measure because I am positive that I will lose the rest of my hair if I don't do something now. I already notice it thinning a little even with the Propecia.

Dude, it is just nerves. Relax a little (I know easy for me to say). If the girl is cool enough, just relax around and see if it comes back up. Dont let yourself get too worked up if it does this a time or two, its a normal nervous reaction. After a few successful times, it won't be a problem again. The most important thing is not to panic and think the girl is stressing out.

lol.. kinda funny to me.. but if your hair is thinning... stop the propecia and take the zoloft... since you would feel depressed about the hairloss... but Zoloft actually INHIBITS the release of semen from the genitals. I have heard many a great stories of my friends who take zoloft to ENHANCE their sex life. They are stating they go on to about 4 hours without ejaculating not once :D Now is that a great impression on the lady partner or what!!.. (but they do also say... it kinda gets dry there after a while...)

The thing is she was very cool about it, I've known her for a while so that has helped. We were joking around about it actually, and then later on she start "petting" me down there and I got erect, but then I lost it again within a few seconds.
