trouble getting VNC running over SSH

Computer 1: Macbook OSX 10.5.1
VNC sever: Vine Server 3.0

Computer 2: HP work laptop XP SP2
SSH client: putty
VNC Viewer: VNC Viewer 4

Router: 2wire 3800HVG-B gateway

I am able to SSH in just fine and get a terminal session going

however I can't start the VNC session

Port forwarding on router is as follows:
5900 (VNC) to computer 1
22 (SSH) to computer 1

Tunneling in putty is setup:
5900 on computer 2 to 5900 on computer 1

When I try and start the VNC session:
Localhost:0

it just says connections closed unexpectedly. when I look at the VNC server log it never even tries to connect. If it just let it connect directly on 5900 it works fine.

never mind i used the built in VNC server and the tunneling works fine, I'm guessing its a firewall problem in OSX
