Trouble finding DBX files

I recently backup all my emails from outlook express because I'm changing systems but during a drive search I can't seem to find any DBX files, does anyone know why? i'm using the regular process for backing up outlook express:
file>>folder>> compact all folders

wondering if anyone has any idea why I can't find any DBX files? is OE not actually executing the command to compact the files? it shows me a window with the task being completed but no .DBX files are created. Help!
