Having trouble copying DVD's. I'm using Roxio Disc Copier 6.2.0.110. I'm trying to copy DVD-R's originally made on a MAC. Copy the DVD to the hard drive, then burn that data to a new DVD. It was working fine earlier, and i made 3 good DVD's. Roxio see's the DVD in the drive, but when i click burn, the program now freezes.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Or what the problem might be? I havent downloaded or changed anything from this morning. I left to do some xmas shopping while a dvd was burning. Came back, disc had burned fine. Went to burn another, and started getting this problem.

Also, is Roxio the best software to be using for this? Is there anything better?

Are you copying DVDRs (ie: home videos, etc) or pressed DVDs (ie: movies)? If they're DVDR's, you might try an on-the-fly copy.

I *think* there's a freeware DVD copyier for movies. You might check DVDRHelp.com to see if it's up there

Also, try writing some CDR/RWs to see if there's possibly a problem with the drive.

Use DVDShrink and Nero...when only the best will do.

If you want to rip images of DVDs, use Alcohol 120% for the rip, then use Nero for the burn. This is best for copying single-layer DVDs and DVD+/-R's (especially making a copy of a copy :D )

IMHO, Roxio is the worst program available...

This may sound crazy, but even with great ventilation I think it may be too hot. I had similar problems after burning several DVD's. I turned off the PC, waited a few hours, then it worked fine.

I would start by downloading the eval version of Nero to rule out a software problem. I'm not a big Nero fan...but I will say that Roxio has been nothing but trouble for me. Have you tried playing the DVD off the hard drive in a software player?
