Trouble booting to SATA with IDE connected

I have windows installed on my SATA HD but when I connect my IDE HD it won't boot to the SATA drive, jsuyt trys going to the IDE with the error NTLDR missing.
How can I boot to the SATA with IDE connected?

*edit* the mobo i'm running is the DFI LANPARTY NFII ULTRA B

Ok, on page 58 of the manual, they show the place where you can select your boot-device priority. There's a setting to pick whether to boot from SATA or SCSI, where "SCSI" would mean a plug-in PCI disk controller (either true SCSI or IDE/SATA). Try changing that to SATA for starters, and look at the options for First/Second/Third Boot Device to ensure that IDE isn't taking higher priority than the onboard SATA controller (which may be referred to as SATA, or just as "SCSI").

I also see that they gave it an on-the-fly boot menu... press the PrintScrn button while the system's POSTing, and it'll let you pick which device you want to boot from (on that go-around only).

HA ty! still trying to get use to this sata thing. I had everything set right, it was set to SATA and i even chose NONE for any other boot device but what got it to work was setting SCSI as the first boot =\.
