New comers will get their $7.50 out of that island hopping with a twist of evil, city building game 🙂

*wonders where the expansion is 🙂

Tropico 3 is worth $7.50 IMO. Was very easy though, so when I bought it for the full price I was a bit disappointed.

Ya tropico 3 was great, expansion is out in 2 weeks its called "Tropico 3: Absolute Power" its on steam.

Seriously? Nice I was just swinging in the dark hoping for that, I must check it out. Thanks!

Are there difficulty settings?

Yeah, but not in the traditional sense. When you create your avatar you can handicap him with what resources are available to you, what you'll pay on exports, how much certain factions like you, etc.

i think i'll wait till a later sale with both this and the exp pack included. besides, still need to get the 1&2 pack to play first.

Anyone tried the expansion? Think it came out yesterday. I'll probably grab it soon when I get some free time.

Played this a lot over the weekend, it's fun and well worth $7.50.

The basic concepts are easy to grasp, but the details will certainly take a while to master. Love the music and the overall ambiance.

Definately fun game. The hard part is figuring it out how to build the economy.. once you have it figured out every game becomes identical. I do want to re-install it though because it's very addicting.

Yea... it's taking me a while how to figure out not to lose money.

My main problem is that my builders take forever to decide to start building... this is even with multiple build offices.

This is probably by design, I'll have to read up on the game

You can set the building priority by clicking on the designated "queued" building, and then I think it's on the detail tab - there's four different little house icons with lines under them. The one on the right is highest priority, the one furthest left is to suspend construction.

Also, make sure you have garages set up near the building sites and the homes of the construction workers. If a worker has to walk to the construction office, gets dropped off at the site, and then has to walk home, it's going to take a long time to build no matter how many offices you have.

Yea, that's the way I've been doing it, but it just feels wrong for some reason. If I have 3 building queued to be built (all at the same level), it seems like the builders are in absolutely no rush to build anything. They'll just do it whenever they feel like it.

To be honest, I probably have to play with the priority settings just a tad bit more.

I just need to play more to get the hang of it.

Good call, I never thought of that.

Any idea how long this deal lasts? I'm on dial-up til tomorrow night, and haven't yet signed up for Steam. But this, plus free Portal, just about has me convinced.

You can buy any game without downloading it immediately. So buy and claim your games now and they'll be there when you're ready to download it.

I hate to say this because it feels like a cheat, but grow tobacco > cigars or sugar > rum distillery and you'll be making cash. I wouldn't try it right off the bat because it's a bit of investment to get those industries going. I always like wood cutters and farm animals as a good starter economy.

You can build multiple construction offices to get them to build faster or raise their pay to get them to move quicker. I think someone said this, but having good roads from their office to where something is being built is paramount.

You can also select el president and right click him onto a building you want to build. His presence their speeds up construction. You can do that with him and farms, churches, military and school buildings to increase output/revenues.

When you build garages don't put them right on the main highways. Doing that causes road blocks and makes the garages fill up quick. Instead build a little side street and put the garage on there.
