The picture of the event with Bush shows troops wearing ACU's. The blog's description says Bush was there to give a big speech. Of course the troops are going to cheer. They were there specifically to listen to their Commander in Chief.

When President Bush went to Iraq in 2003 to have a Thanksgiving dinner, they gave him numerous rounds of applause. A dozen, at least. Hmmm....

Bush Rally: http://www.marywan.com/Image/bush1.jpg

I bet nobody even gave Bush any token applause. You can see that Bush is tremendously popular with the public!

Comparing their rallies, it looks like the people were tremendously excited and eager to hear our next President, but not our previous one. I wonder why???????

Those rallies are of troops?

Does it matter? The electorate chooses our leaders, not the military.

Even if we accept your skewed interpretation of events it wouldn't matter. If you want to have a popularity contest your boy Bush loses by a mile.

If you don't think it matters, that's your issue. The thread is clearly about the troops.

The thread is clearly about your disdain for anything democratic!!
These next 8 yrs will be interesting.......if for nothing more than to see how you distort facts as they are....

hahaaaaa

So the soldiers liked Bush in 2000 more than Obama in 2008?

OP, are you trying to suggest the troops are dumb?

The only ones who have suggested that are the lefties. I suggest they have better judgment than the American public.

Apparently the troops are stupid, but the welfare bottom feeders who can't afford healthcare are geniuses.

Barack Obama visited US Marines in Hawaii on Christmas.
...He was met with silence.
Political Punch and PL Forum reported:

President-elect Obama stopped by the Marine Corps base in Hawaii Kaneche Bay where servicemen and -women were eating Christmas dinner in Kailua Thursday evening.

?Just wanted to say hi, hey guys,? Obama said as he walked into the Anderson dining hall which was decked out in Christmas decorations.

The diners represented seven military units -- Marine and Navy -- some of whom were joined by their families for Christmas dinner.

As Obama entered the room, it was absent of the regular fanfare of cheering and clapping. The diners were polite, staying seated at their respective tables and waited for the president-elect to come to them to stand up.

And this picture is priceless:

Damn, nobody even gives him any token applause. You can see that Obama is tremendously popular with these veterans!

The troops are tremendously forthcoming and eager to meet our current President, but not our next one. I wonder why.

No one ever accused the military of intelligence.

That's ok, there are plenty of us military and ex-military who would be the opposite...at the very least.

Looks like the liberals got their panties in a bunch defending their hero.

Try pulling your head out of your ass. You might gain a better perspective on everything.

Hmmm, nice photo

Here's some non-tripe filled accounting from Mlive:

As Obama approached another table of four young men, one of them had a newspaper clipping for him to sign. The president-elect appeared to inquire where each was hailed from as well. "So this is the East coast table," he said as he shook one of their hands.

Reporters were only allowed inside the mess hall for seven of the 68 minutes Obama spent greeting diners there. During that time they were clustered at a distance from the president-elect and could only hear bits and pieces of the conversations he was having at the tables.

But the service men and women seemed to enjoy having Obama crash their Christmas dinner ? even though he didn?t eat.

Some seemed to be sending text messages from their cell phones when it became clear Obama was about to enter the room. They rose to their feet when Obama approached their tables and extended his hand.

"Congratulations," one of the service members said as Obama greeted his table."

Face it OP, you failed trying to compare apples to oranges again. But we have come to expect that kind of insanity from you. Keep doing it over and over, the results won't change. But don't let that stop you from trying. You are officially bankrupt.

Here's another :cookie:

What is it with the Right and their "Bunched Panties" issues? Are you obsessed with everyone's underwear, or just Leftist "Pink Panties"?

Why would the troops be enthusiastic for Bush? Have they been treated well upon their return? Were they given the proper armor when deployed? Has the VA been doing a good job under the Dub? Seems to me that they got a raw deal signing up with the Dub as their CIC.

I know when I was in basic training, when in the mess hall no matter who entered it was policy that you remain seated and respectful. I don't know what the final numbers were, but I seriously doubt Bush led in the miltray vote by much.

I also would like to add, that it would probably be against military policy I bet for them to have "display" for the incoming Commander and Chief. That is just a guess.

So, your thread is to attack the troops - to say that they lack both the judgement to prefer Obama and applaud him more, and the courtesy to applaud him for his office?

You yourself said 'some won't even look at him'.

If you're trying to argue that the military is indoctrinated with right-wing poison to lean far that way, to raise the issue of a dangerous political schism between the military - who may not like the civilian control over its vast budget and power - and the public in our democracy, y9ou are doing fine.

The incredible differences in how the public views Obama more favorably than Bush does not help your point that the troops feel the opposite make the troops look very good.

If the troops like a president who harms the country so much, who starts war on lies, then they're the ones with the problem.

You might think they'd not be happy with a president who gets 5,000 of them killed, but I guess when you compare that to the millions in the defense industry and all the prosperity war brings and the chance for 'honor' and other such things, as Chris Hedges explains in his book "War is a Force That Gives Us Meaning", maybe they're all for the warmonger president. But that doesn't speak well for them.

he said generally. are you saying that it isn't true?

because in my home town the people who joined were the people who didn't have any particular skills that could make money and needed to do something with their life..most of those people also had parents who beat them..some of them were my good friends

my father was a marine for 20+ years and guess what..he was one of those people..wanted to feed the family and didn't know any other way but to sign up

the bulk of the military is made up of non-college graduates ...it doesn't surprise me in the least that they might not be as "smart" in that sense ..it doesn't mean that they are lesser human beings or anything of a sort

i think its hard for the right wing ideologues to accept that a very large portion of the military is made up of people who don't really care about all its bullshit messages, they just want a stable job...it doesn't support their rosy little image of the good little patriots marching around doing bush's bidding

Well, that is just pathetic.

Shows the lack of moral among the troops, i would NEVER allow such conduct among my men.

thanks Mr Kerry for your continued support of the troops.

I don't think Kerry would say something like that, this is just a 12 year old wanting to feel better about himself after failing the latest math test. ;)
