Barack Obama visited US Marines in Hawaii on Christmas.
...He was met with silence.
Political Punch and PL Forum reported:

President-elect Obama stopped by the Marine Corps base in Hawaii Kaneche Bay where servicemen and -women were eating Christmas dinner in Kailua Thursday evening.

?Just wanted to say hi, hey guys,? Obama said as he walked into the Anderson dining hall which was decked out in Christmas decorations.

The diners represented seven military units -- Marine and Navy -- some of whom were joined by their families for Christmas dinner.

As Obama entered the room, it was absent of the regular fanfare of cheering and clapping. The diners were polite, staying seated at their respective tables and waited for the president-elect to come to them to stand up.

And this picture is priceless:

Compared to President Bush, with video.

Damn, nobody even gives him any token applause. You can see that Obama is tremendously popular with these veterans!

The troops are tremendously forthcoming and eager to meet our current President, but not our next one. I wonder why.

Makes sense, there future is up in the air due to Obama. As with most Dem presidents the military force will probally be scaled back, hopefully Obama doesn't make this mistake.

Ok, so you took a publicity video of Bush walking in to greet troups where they were told to yell and scream, vs. a still photo of Obama talking to some troops after he'd already been there awhile and people were eating..

Makes sense in your world I guess.

Who says they were told to yell and scream? Were they also told to shake his hand, ask for his autograph, and pose for pictures? To take our cameras?

Oh, and there are people who won't even look at Obama...

This thread doesn't even deserve this but here goes anyway:

:cookie:

When should we expect the OP to be enlisting so he can join in on the silence?

That oughta' learn that musleem Uncle Tom to interrupt the holy Xmas feast! Once a mulatto, always a mulatto--AM I WIN?!!11

But seriously.

Bush & Co. stage their publicity stunts, dot their I's and cross their T's. Obama just walked into a hall in the middle of a meal, it seems.

What did you expect--a federal prison mess-hall riot?

Guess someone had nothing to say, just like the crowd

Obama's like the Lions marching onto Ford Field.

I'm sure you always keep a camera handy at dinner to catch a memento of finding corn in the shit you're chewing.

A secret publicity stunt, not announced in advance, at the very end of his term, with a video shot by a random person with a small camcorder....yeah!

Would explain why they didn't bother to clap for him. Their hands were occupied.

Are you serious? Is this a real thread?

I guess if we're picking and choosing..

Obama Rally: http://farm3.static.flickr.com...37165_906aed318c_o.jpg

Bush Rally: http://www.marywan.com/Image/bush1.jpg

I bet nobody even gave Bush any token applause. You can see that Bush is tremendously popular with the public!

Comparing their rallies, it looks like the people were tremendously excited and eager to hear our next President, but not our previous one. I wonder why???????

Does it matter? The electorate chooses our leaders, not the military.

Even if we accept your skewed interpretation of events it wouldn't matter. If you want to have a popularity contest your boy Bush loses by a mile.

If you don't think it matters, that's your issue. The thread is clearly about the troops.

How does the OP make any sense?

The photo with Obama shows military personnel sitting down at what looks like a casual dinner. Some people are in uniforms, many are not. The event was for the Marines and Sailors to have a nice holiday meal with their families, not to cheer Obama.

The picture of the event with Bush shows troops wearing ACU's. The blog's description says Bush was there to give a big speech. Of course the troops are going to cheer. They were there specifically to listen to their Commander in Chief.

It's not my issue at all, actually, but it does seem to be yours. You can desperately attempt to prop up a failed presidency all you want by suggesting that his popularity among the troops is high, but in the end it's not going to make his presidency any less of a failure.

Thread about the troops? This looks more like a thread about bullshit.

Looks like the liberals got their panties in a bunch defending their hero.
