SF was being used in full capacity. 3,000 green berets were on the ground doing their primary job, Foreign Internal Defense training. Then the conventional 3-star who was last responsible for training the Iraqis was placed in command of the mission. And then a conventional division headquarters (1st ID) was deployed into Iraq to support the mission.

And the mission will creep from there. Every Army commander wants to lead his unit into combat, and the Army itself wants it in order to justify a bigger budget.

Afghanistan is a great example of a perfect SF mission ruined by a bunch of Infantry and Armor O6s that wanted an OEF ribbon.

I'm telling you what has and is actually happening. You seem to have some fantasy of what you think should happen. Two of my friends are in Iraq right now with the 1st ID Division staff. One is a signal officer, the other is an Army Strategist (FA59.) Both are doing normal div staff work: BUBs, WUBs, CUBs, etc.

There's currently a large number of conventional soldiers equipping and training on North Fort Hood for deployment.

FID is the primary mission of the SF? No Unconventional Warfare is the primary mission of the SF. They can do reconnaissance and DA also. Since you seem to want to spew insults without actually knowing what the fuck you are talking about yourself how about you eat crow.

You seem paranoid of possible deploying of regular soldiers so you are all fucking boneheaded about the SF being engaged in enemy contact so that is why you are wanting them to do only FID.

And I might just have that book. Bought a Special Operations book plus some basic infantry fieldbook from a local military surplus. Was from some Psy Ops guy who was deployed over ther and now is a mechanic or something. Actually more like hundreds of pages stapled together than actually a real book.
