I'm not into the whole 3d movies thing. But I can't determine if there is a way to see it in imax sans the 3d. Anyone have some input?

If only there was a way to look up where movies are playing...

Herp derp I know you can go on fandango but I don't see a theater anywhere where it's in non 3d. That's why I wanted to confirm. I'm trying to ask if it's in imax non 3d anywhere.

Wait a few weeks.

They want to make sure all the fanbois go to see it where they need to spend $23-$35 a ticket. (NYC prices were REDICULOUS!).

Can't make enough money on standard fliks with people having 60" screens at home? MAKE IT 3D AND CHARGE 2X!!!!!!

feh.

This thread has now been hijacked.

Is Tron Legacy worth seeing in non-3d?

I keep trying to remember who was in the original w/o looking online.....

"Was that the original guy that git sucked in there?"
"When did he have time to have a kid?"
"Why is everything the same, but just better graphics... Did EA take over?"

No, IMAX will be 3D only. You could find a regular theater showing it in non-3D Im sure though.

While I'm generally anti-3D, this is one where they actually planned it on being 3D from the get-go rather than using the awful post-processing effect to do it. Also, the entire movie isn't in 3D, it goes 3D once Sam goes into the grid.

Isn't that like, the whole movie?

lol from RottenTomatoes:

The film is a Fleshlight. It looks like the real thing, and it might get you off, but it is plastic, phony, and utterly soulless.

that said, I still want to see it.

Sadly, I can't watch 3d movies. They make me sick as a dog...so I have to wait until it's non-3d somewhere.

Maybe your eyes are set too close to each other, so their calibration for what is "3D" is not what your mind is used to......

I think it is a waste of $$ anyway. Until they charge less and it becomes commonplace, it is just not worth having things made to deliberately seem like they are flying out at you....

Maybe if they made it less obvious it would be more like watching a play or something. Less concious that you are watching a 3D flik.... (and less eyestrain if your DOF is not so extreme.....)

Doubtful you can't see it in IMAX 3d [but I sure as hell am going too try when it's cheap] :)

On that note - why isn't SciFi or Disney showing the original TRON to hype up the already HYPE like other sequels or remakes? :(

I've heard Disney is actually warehousing copies of Tron and not letting them be shipped out b/c they are worried the old effects will turn people off from seeing the new one.

Might just be an internet rumor though.

fx are the least of the issues with the original tron, it was written by people who admittedly knew jacksh*t about technology.

many reasons, some peoples eye alignment might be slightly off, or they just can't see stereo vision. others might have brains that are simply not fooled by seeing two separate frames ...3d is very artificial, and based on averages of vision, not your own. furthermore peoples eyes focus on things in the 3d zone normally with the eyes sorta tilted inwardly to point at the point of focus, how far the eyes have to angle inward might just be another 3d cue, but this is not working in theater 3d. So what you get in theater 3d is very fake compared to biological 3d. 3d only really works for a limited distance as well, adding another degree of fakeness, if you brain rejects this, its over. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=238gr0R2CXg&feature=SeriesPlayList&p=D7A0CFB13CAAD8D8

I'd hope so.

how shitty would it be for us to allow these dickscarves to make movies that provided some merit beyond headache-inducing eye candy?

i mean, seriously, is that too much to ask?
