Trolling (pt2)

Since it seems easier for the AnandTech Moderators to close every topic regarding trolling, name-calling, post-whoring and other misbehaviours, than actually doing something about it, I'll just post this in here, were someone will actually read it.

Look here, trolls: Everyone is sick and tired of you. Please stop your trolling. None of us cares whether you love Intel or AMD, and we don't care what kind of processor runs your computer. The one time we do care about it is when it needs overclocking, you need advice or if it's broken. If your topic/post has nothing to do with this, please don't post it. An example of a troll post:

considering how stupid and desperate AMD is currently

the latest example is their pathetic ' anti trust ' suit filed today

Chipzilla is reportedly prepared to revoke their cross-licensing agreement with AMD, effectively rendering AMD chips totally worthless. This means AMD would no longer be able to use MMX, SSE2, SSE3 and several other Intel inventions !!!

imagine what a big blow this would be !!!

This is a perfect example of trolling. This user implies that one company is superior to another. We don't care about the company, troll. We want the superior product, not the name. Also, this user caresses the company he adores by using a special name for them.

When a troll is pointed to his/her misbehaviour, they resort to name-calling, false numbers/benchmarks and fake arguments. I believe I speak for everyone (except the trolls themselves) when I say that the trolling must come to an end.

I know this post may get me a warning, or even a ban, but I'd rather not be on a forum than on a forum ruined by trolls. I'm sorry to say this, but the AnandTech Moderators are doing a poor job in the CPU forum. It seems that they are so full of themselves that they feel to superior to listen to the simple user, and ban us some trolls. For example, Duvie opened a topic in which he applied for Moderator. He got a whole lot of support, but the topic was closed for no apparant reason.

I started a topic about the trolls, and it was closed, also for no reason. Please, AnandTech Moderators, please. Ban the trolls.

(In other news: This is probably my longest post ever. Cool, huh? 😛)

EDIT: Since the mods decided not to read my thread and just close it instead, I decided to post it again. Just respond to the topic with "Aye." if you agree, please.

You think we lock posts without reading them 1st :roll:Your post has been read and doesn't belong in this Forum so give it a rest or you'll have 1!

careful vegitto!!! Dont you be the one to get banned for doing something good...

I honestly think the mods may have actually handed a ban to prokster and a vacation to Dothan...

Would be nice if we had a way to see if someone is banned!!!

I don't mind getting banned for good cause. Cause when the mods press their big, shiny button, they can think of the trolls. I hope.

Trolling? Looks like Dothan is laying out some facts mixed with a tad bit of opinion imo.

Dont' take things personally, it's a message board.

Yeah, best not go for a third thread... Fight the good cause in a better place.

I do agree, but this really isn't the place...

Coming from a troll himself...

Start a thread that says "AMD IS THE BEST EVER" and you will know within 24 hours if they are banned or not.

Just do a search for dothans posts and see what comes up. He has never once posted anything relevant as far as i have seen.

Bump for a real effort at asking the mods to help make this a better place.

Well, Super Typhoon, you probably have a Prescott. And Prescotts are very useful for oh, say, frying an egg? Or, warming your floor. Prescotts get very, very hot. You might want to pop an after-market heatsink on that, baby.

🙁 I wanted to post that

Are you implying that Vegitto is a troll as well? If so, I cannot agree with you on that based on what you quoted. Because my 3.0EGHz prescott got over 70C on load with the stock cooler (right now, it's really cool because my mobo has gone for a replacement 😉). Vegitto did exaggerate there a bit, but I believe he's right in suggesting aftermarket coolers for prescotts.

i'm just saying thats trollish behavior. everyone knows prescotts run hot but he's implying that thats what they are good for? no?

i'm not defending porkster, dothan or any troll. the fact remains though, it takes two to troll. why people even respond to them is a mystery to me.

and if you're going to be creating three anti-troll threads about it you should refrain from making trollish remarks yourself.

That post was a joke, and you should understand that. And if that's called trolling, how many times did I do that? 5? 10? (Not even 5, but what the hell)

I'd like to see one post that Porkster/Dothan made that's not trolling.

Ignore the trolls! Plain and simple!

The ones I have seen are just saying things in the knowledge that it'll wind people up.

Thats how they get their kicks. They thrive on reaction.

If people would just not react, quote them and rant, then they'd realise they were having no effect and soon go away.

I do agree though, that trolling threads should be closed to avoid dragging on, and regular trollers given a ban.

But please explain to me why we should ignore them in the first place if they can be banned with a single click from a mod? Why try to ignore the hole in the ceiling if you can get it fixed?

again, i'm not saying you're a troll. i guess these anti-troll posts get on my nerves. the mods will handle it. is it really that difficult to skip over a post or 2? thas all it would be if people would stop responding to them. its not like i see anyone actually taking these guys seriously.

i know you're trying to fight the good fight and all but truly, these posts are as useful as a retail prescott hsf, lol

Actually in a hardware forum like this one that has a huge base of users ...many just stop by briefing or congregate more in the other forums here and are unaware of the "known" trolls....

What I get worried about, if we dont respond, is that someone may take what they say as the truth and correct info...that ofcourse gets perpetuated elsewhere...the beauty of why more then half the suff on the net is BS...

I say you meet them head on....First just try to bury their comment with facts and proofs and then if they continue to troll then have some fun with them...

I have had (usually get about 20 pms a week unsolicited) many ppl Pm me to ask me stff either qouting mis-information from trolls, or generally confused because of conflicting information.

This is a hardware forum and not necessary an OT opinion post. I like to analyze the numbers as most now. I like to back what I say with links, etc. The editorial BS the trolls plaster us with all opinion and no fact should go in off-topic and P&N, where the blowhards reside...

I agree they should be banned by a mod or have the thread closed, but as thats not really happening atm then ignoring them is the next best thing.

Trolls thrive on reaction. If they don't get one, they'll soon get bored and leave.

I'm not so sure. I mean, it's a good idea and all, but there's more than 1 of them. They might (for sure, they will) start a 'fanboi jerk circle', as they love to call it when we comment on each others (-->correct<--) remarks.

I agree, if you can disprove their comments and make them look stupid, then great, but some threads like Dothan's "Chipzilla strikes back", which is just plain unadulterated trolling, should just be ignored as the piece of trash that it is.

Starting such a thread alone should be rewarded with a permban.

That's what I thought it was myself... I am a P4 Prescott user and my ego wasn't hurt at all when I read that. 😛
