I currently run 2 1680x1050 20" LCDs on my PC. I'm going to be upgrading my mobo/cpu/ram/gfx soon, and also buying a 1080p HDTV.

I will definitely want to have some sort of connectivity between my HDTV and my PC, but the majority of the time I will want to be using both of the 20" LCDs.

Are there any cards out there with 3 DVI connectors? Do I need to have two separate cards? Or can I get a DVI switchbox to toggle between one of my LCDs and the HDTV?

What would YOU do? 🙂
 
Clever use of two 20" monitors with a 30" (at least that's what it looks like). That would make an excellent flight simulator.

He's almost certainly got two video cards. You don't need high-end cards to do this, but you would if you were gaming.

My system has three DVI ports, so I could exactly do this type of rig.
 
I LOVE my triple monitor setup. Hell, id rather have that guys desk than his screen 😛


I use two graphics cards with mine. an 8800gts powers my dell 24" and gateway 19", then a 5200 powers my other gateway 19". much cheaper than a triple head 2 go or anything.
 
Hmmm, apparently vista is quite picky with multi-adapter systems, need to make sure both cards run off of the same driver apparently?

Regarding that guy's triple head setup, the ones either side are 19"ers I think. 20" might be a better option - they'd stick up about an inch either side compared to the 30" in the middle, but the dot pitch would match.

edit: I take it back, they're 20" 1600x1200 4:3 monitors, perfect size and dot-pitch match

And yeah, it is a good desk too - I'm looking for a decent desk at the moment and havent seen anything even close to as good as that.

I think the monitors ran me around $450 for each of the 20" and $1700 for the 30" with 5-year complete-care/accidental damage. The 7900GTO that runs the 30" monitor was another $230 or something. I normally wouldn't have spent that much on a video card but it's funny how little money that seemed like after buying the monitor. The whole setup was just under $3000.

The desk is custom built out of oak so you won't find it at your local office depot. It actually runs the full length of two walls in the office.
