Philippine airline is alrite. Don't expect any good airline food and they don't have individual inflight movies like most other asian airline (Korean, Singapore, Kathy Pacific...etc). But their pilot is pretty experienced and the flight is usually pretty smooth. I take PAL once 2~3 weeks.

Don't have any experience with Hawaiian Air.

What you wanna bring depends on what you wanna do. Nice clothes if you wanna go clubbing. Lots of nice beaches you can go to. Of course, you can do what everyone does here, hang out in huge malls the whole day. (suggest you visit mall of asia, greenbelt, glorietta...etc) Movie here is cheap as hell too. Food is good. Traffic suck.

How much money you need again depends on what you do. A cheap meal can cost 2 USD and an expensive meal can cost USD50+/per. Entertainment like movie and concerts are pretty cheap. As far as shopping, my experience is you can get cheap stuff 1/2 of the price in the US. But if you want fine/high quality/imported stuff, it's usually MSRP +20%~50%.
