Trinitron VS Flat Panel

the trinitron. bec the only thing that i think is different from a flat panel and flat screen is the fact that the flat panel releases less or virtually no radiation. im not sure about this but i'll still go for the trinitron in any case.

15" is just too small. I have a 19", I would never trade it for anything smaller, now matter how good the image quality is.

Give me a brain tumor, I want my big monitor!

19 inch.

Now ask that same question about a 19" flat CRT vs. a 17" Flat Panel . . . it will be a much tougher choice (but IF I was paying for it, I'd take the much cheaper CRT).

well.... i was pulling my hair over this issue myself, recently. I wish i could say flat pannel but nope, sorry.

as much as i love the portability, brightness, and in some cases: contrast advantages of flat pannels; i wouldn't want to

(1) have a smaller display real-estate
(2) gamble with mwave etc. after reading their dead-pixel policy
(3) SHELL OUT BIG BUCKS
(4) (as someone already mentioned) give up the 2 beautiful almost invisible damper wires 😉

can't wait till the lcd quality/price ratio starts shooting up like it did with trinitrons!

i can't stand the damper wires 😛 15" would be too small tho, so w/ these choices, i'd have to say 19" trinny. Altho, personally, i'd go for a 17" flat pannel... lugging a 19" trinny back and forth btwn school/home/lans is a pain 😛

I would go for the samsung 15" flat panel...i just got one(samsung 570V tft) for christmas and i would have to say that i love it...there is just something about a flat panel that is just awesome...also the portability and the small footprint were big pluses for me since i live in a dorm room most of the time and often take my computer back and forth from school and home as well as to lans...at first i was worried about the image quality with the flat panel but it looks great...and as for the screen size issue if you are moving up from a 15" crt like i was the larger screen is nice but not as much real estate as a 19"crt but most of my friends that have that large of a screen hate moving it anywhere, my recommendation would be to go with the 19" if you don't plan on moving it a lot on have the desk space, but if you have the cash go for the flat panel they are very nice to have.

another vote for trinitron.

I have 17.4" Planar LCD, 15" KDS RAD-5 LCD, and 21" flat CRT. I like the 21" the most, but LCD has no (least) radiation.

I use 1152X864 on 21". It's extremely comfortable. LCD is very sharp, but I can't stare at it for too long time (very strange eh?). But I can work before my CRT very very long.

I know people say CRT is less comfortable, but my CRT is top quality and 1152X864 at 120Hz gives me very nice big fonts as well as bright pictures.
