i can't get file transfers to work with gaim....moved over to trillian recently..it's nice but it's not for mulitple users in the same house like aim or gaim where you can easily sign off one screename and then back on with another using the same service

It's not? I have profiles turned on in Trillian... works flawlessly for me...

Gaim.

And it's spelled Trillian.

Agree, I used Trillian for a few months and found it a bit too buggy and bloated for my taste.

How long ago was it you tried Trillian? The older versions were truly a POS. Trillian 3, though, I think is good... and the version of 2.x released not long before 3 was good.

It was a while ago, perhaps I'll give the new Trillian a chance. What I'd like to know is, are there any clients which offer painless file transfers? My only gripe with GAIM - and it's a gripe I've had with all the clients I've tried - is file transfer. For that I have to log off and use the official client (AIM or ICQ, depending who I'm sending to or receiving from).

I use a somewhat older version of AIM with AIMutation, and it's great. However, I recently downloaded Trillian Basic 3.0 and am really, really liking what I see. The old 0.74f was garbage, but this version is really sweet

ive never had a problem with file transfer with trillian 2.x or 3, using icq aim and msn. i dont have a Y! id so i dont use that one, but it would probably work i would assume.

I just use MSN, the beta.. thinking about moving back to trillian, just because of ease of use

dude, edit it, and i know i'm not the first to point out, but
its TrilliAn.. not trillion.. see the diff?

I don't think that there are any non-native clients that offer painless file transfers. I know that Trillian has had its share of difficulties. In previous versions, I'd even occasionally resort to installing/running a native client for file transfer. I've not had any problems with file transfers in the latest version, though.

😱 No wonder some of you don't like Trillian... if I were using 0.74f, I'd hate it too!

I agree, 3.0 is much better 😉
