I've heard that Trillian can act like AIM. So with that in my head, which app. uses less memory? Currently my AIM says it uses 11, so should I worry about that or use Trillian?

Trillian use 5mb for me..... But if you have plenty of memory why even worry about it? Just use which app. you like better, you arnt going to notice a dfference in system performance over and app that uses 6 less MB of memory, unless you only have like 32 to start with. I use trillian because I like it better than AIM.

My trillian pro is using 6,188KB ATM with connections to 3 servers and several different connections (cabrio, message splitter, news)

you can also consider gaim. i have several friends that use that (which also is multiple-network capable)

Bah to Trillian! My Miranda connected to ICQ is only using 850k right now. It only gets as high as 2-3mb. The installation .exe is only 632k so there's no way it can take more than a couple mb. :D

6.2MB / 1024MB = 0.0060546875 * 100 = .6%

I think I can afford the sixth-tenths of a pecent of my total RAM

My Trillian is currently (at work) using ~16MB. I've seen it get over 20MB on my home machine. I'm not quite sure why. I have about 30 contact across AIM, ICQ, MSN, & Yahoo. Actually, it's only connected to AIM and MSN right now.

my AIM uses 26MB sometimes... i thought it was aimutation.. then i installed freshed.. and it jumps there sometimes... i dunno.

I would love to use trillian for the history in chat windows.. but $25... blah... if it were $15, I think they'd have more customers.. more than enough to offset the difference.

You do realize that Trillian is free, right? Trillian PRO costs money, but plain 'ol Trillian is free and a damn good IM client. The only thing you get with the PRO version is plugin support. Admittedly, there are some decent plugins out there, but they aren't necessary to enjoy the application.
