"Also heard from AOL insider programmers and staff: If these "unauthorized" accesses continue, eventually AOL may (and has in the past) will begin to Email AIM users, and threaten to disable or terminate their accounts, using the explanation "for your protection..."

where are the hackers on this one, seriously... i want to see aol go down dammit. that would really make my day, i'd grin for 24 hours straight 😀

<< you guys are crazy. you use trillian for convenience, right? is it convenient to constantly download patch after patch just so you don't have to have aim open? >>

aim is one of the ugliest clients out there. big stupid buttons on the chat windows i never use that do nothing but take up more desktop space. plus it hogs system memory, and it's damn ugly.

even after all this yes right now i am running aim 4.7 using deadaim to disable all their spam, sux to be you aol i'm still not seeing your ads.

eventually i think trillian will have to use the TOC protocal instead of OSCAR which is way limited (no idle msgs, no file xfers, no buddy icons), but it is their "open" protocal.

now can someone seriously tell me why you are having problems with Trillian, yet I have no problems what so ever with aim+.

They are different. One is a whole other piece of software and the other just removes ads from AOL's own software.

Ok, so even though aim+ removes ads, make the window transparent and logs everything, it still uses the aim software. Ok that would make sence then.

<< I just started mine up and it works like a charm. hmm... >>

Give it a minute. I think mine disconnects after 2-3 minutes. 🙂

yep LOL "AOL Instant Messanger" is just an account, I tried to warn them but it didn't work 😀

I got kicked off, then reconnected fine. it'll probally kick me off every 3 mins but reconnect.

I'm going to block this "AOL Instant Messenger" bot thing though.

From their site (supposedly)

Just wanted to update and let everyone know that we are aware of the latest AIM block and are actively working on a solution.

Also, please note that if you're receiving "Not supported by client" errors on ICQ to make sure both ends are using patch "C".
