If you just turn on the away message, it'll stay on.

Click on the yellow circle at the bottom of the contact list, goto "Set Status" -> Away, or you can right-click the icon in the system tray and "Set Status" -> Globally Away

That is the problem with Trillian. You can't set global 'invisible' status. You are either Away or not. Trillian is great until you need to manage it. Then it gets tricky. I actually switched from Trillian and just admin each individual IM program. Good luck.

I would presume he's right -- you can't set a "invisible" status. AIM won't let you set "invisible", so I don't see how Trillian could do it either.

Isn't an 'away' enough? :p

I don't see why you need the different setting....people still think you're away, but if someone msgs you, you can still talk to them w/o having your away msg taken off...

That being said, Trillian's been giving me a crapload of problems lately, so I'm back on regular AIM for a while. (One of my biggest questions is why it'll only let me have like 3 lines in my info...)

Anybody running the win32 "port" of GAIM yet? I noticed that was available earlier today

The problem is that 'away' isn't the same as 'invisible'. Take it from someone that has tried to stay discreet. The best way is to not use Trillian if you want to stay 'invisible'.

But you're implying that using AIM lets you be "invisible". Not unless you block everyone on your buddy list, or make a second AIM name (which I know quite a few people do) to spy on people...

Or am I missing out on something?

Hmmm... I don't like the fact that Trillian can't format other's profile, does this bother anyone else?
