so trillian 2.0 comes out in final form... anyone using it?

i just installed it, and so far im not impressed.

advantages over 1.0 pro:
-still good ol trillian. plugins still work. contact list intact.
-no stupid popup. but 1.0 is patched now.
-you can do the whole 'picture in msn' dealio. interesting i suppose, but nothing too exciting.
-apparantly finally uses icq contacts on the server? havent tried it yet. this is good. hopefully it uploads folders too.

HATE:
-the obnoxious popup box when you mouseover contacts. do i really need to see a low res picture of an icq flower? nooo. (does anyone know how to turn it off?)
-it breaks my 1.0 skins. it HURTS THEIR BEAUTY.
-my version is kind of special. it hates the apply button in preferences. it CLOSES the program. 2.0 is not 'special'ed as well as 1.0.

what do you all think?

Maybe you should get the normal version instead of a "special" version :p

Checking Yahoo mail seems messed up, but other than that I can't complain as I haven't paid for it.

How well does the "email checking" feature work?

What if you have 10 POP3/IMAP accounts you want to check?

Is that feature available on the free version?

You mean to tell me you can't pony up the 25 bucks in cash to help support a kickass instant messenger?

i know i won't, when you can download and run the proprietary full-featured non-buggy clients for free.

Trillian is not blocked anymore. I use 2.0 pro and it got rid of the recent Yahoo and MSN "not compliant protocol" messages (thank God).

I use it as a straight up messenger and it's great for that purpose alone. Advantages over 1.0? Getting rid of those non compliant messages is well worth the upgrade. ;)

file transfer doesn't work for me anymore, but yahoo cams do. it checks my dead msn account even tho i told it not to (yeah i KNOW there are 870,000 spam messages in there). otherwise it runs fine. oh there's the skin change crash bug. but they know about that. i guess "known" is a better word, since it's been there a bit now. personally i should have waited til after 2.0 was released to extend my membership, cuz i wouldn't have.

ah well, it works. i guess i should be happy with that.

I love 2.0 Pro.
Full Unicode support, thank god. Now I can finally type correctly to friends in other character sets. I also like the MetaContact feature. Handy for when you have multiple media contacts for the same person.

Enjoy. :D

Interesting.. been running it for three weeks now without problem.

Anyway, i have a problem with it where when I edit something in the preferences, and hit apply, I can no longer send messages (until I restart the client). I wish I could make those Online alerts somewhat transparent like the rest of the program so they are 'less' intrusive. I wish the emoticons were a little nicer and a few other things. I definatly like it better then 1.0 though.

As for RossMAN, the pop3 e-mail check is a plug-in (add-on) to Trillian Pro 1/2 (which you need to pay for). Once you register, you get an account on their site, which allows you to download more programs. The pop3 plugin lets you check 10 accounts (i think), and it shows the name of the account on the contact list and says the number of new messages beside the account name ie. RossMAN (4) RossMAN Sucks (3)... so-on.

When it checks, and theres new mail, it will also pop-up an alert saying how many new messages you have, in the same way MSN pops-up online alerts in the bottom right corner of the screen, and also plays a sound (this can be disabled too).
