And I'm pretty impressed with the results. No streaking and just a bit of color problems in the creases on the underside of my wrist which can be fixed by holding them in a different position from now on.

The color looks very natural, and my skin does not have that dry, aged feel it has when I tan the normal way.

Now that I'm 36, I do not want the premature aging and skin cancer that comes with UV tanning. This is the first time I've tried spray on stuff, and it really is a viable alternative.

It's a bit expensive at $64 for four sessions (which translates to $64 a month to keep a tan) but worth it if I want to look tan without the nasty side effects of sun tanning.

No more Casper for me! :D

No pics of me. But the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders all use Mystic Tan. Go look at them. :)

In fact, most entertainers are using some variation of spray on tanning now. Hell, even the Bay Watch cast used it.

Why? They don't charge by the square inch do they? ;)

LOL! Did you see the South Park episode on that? :D

I've always liked to be tan. But now that I'm getting older, I'm seeing how dangerous it is. :(

I'm still using normal tanning beds right now, but I get dark easy so I don't have to go much. Might have to try the spray on stuff.

BTW, do they do full body? I always tan in the nude because I hate lines...

I get dark easy, too. But I know people in their 50s and 60s who have tanned like I have and they look horrible. I don't want to end up like that. I'm 36 and have been told many times I look like I'm still in my late 20s. I don't want that ability to look younger than I am to change.

Hmmmm.... a friend of mine did it, but didn't look that different after one session, does it take more than that to start noticing differences?

Well, the neat thing is, if you want to look tan for a special event, vacation, or date, you only need one session at $17 or so to achieve that. And it doesn't matter if it fades away, one session is all it takes to get tan again.

And the price I pay may not be the price you pay. Mystic Tan is a franchise, and the prices are set by the individual salon owners.

One salon chain in this town JUST got this franchise. So it's new and has no competition. I'm sure it's probably cheaper in areas with competition and it's not so new.

It was explained to me that some people require a higher "dosage" of spray than others. The next time he goes, he should explain that the last time he was there, he hardly noticed a difference.

Also note that you should not shower for 4-6 hours after the session. If you do, you just wash it off before it can do it's thing.

I just don't worry about it. I always look tan since I spend so much time on the bike, but the downside is that I have the world's worst farmer's tan.

Yeah, the only problem with real tanning is real skin cancer. A big problem for me since I'm out in the sun a lot and don't like to use sun screen. Oh well, hopefully I'll get hit by a bus before I die of cancer.

Does tanning of this type help protect you from burning when you go on vacation to a sunny place?

The Mystic Tan tanning solution has three components:
1. BRONZER: a water-soluble, brown-tinted dye that produces an instant tan. The bronzer washes off in the shower or bath, without affecting your overall tan.
2. DHA: this is what produces a long-term tan. The use of DHA has been FDA-approved for decades as an external tanning agent. When applied, DHA reacts with proteins in the skin?s superficial layer to form a golden brown color. Your skin begins to darken two to three hours after application and reaches its peak color within 24 hours. The color will gradually fade through natural exfoliation, just like a tan from the sun. To maintain optimal color, you?ll want to tan every four to five days.
3. ALOE VERA: helps carry the DHA deeper into the skin and promotes a softer, smoother finish. Mystic Tan tanning contains more than 65% stabilized Aloe Vera liquid, a natural moisturizer that helps skin draw moisture to the surface. Aloe Vera also softens the skin and helps smooth wrinkles.
