Trident's New XP4 3D Graphics Accelerator for Notebooks

Yeah I saw that yesterday, very interesting info. Has Trident just come back from the dead or what?

A DX8.1 mobile part should be a very good thing for consumers.

1 gigapixel, so is that 4 pipes with 1 texture unit or 2 pipes with 2 texture units?

10.4GBps of bandwidth is crazy for a notebook part. based on those specs its better than an MX460. MX460 has the visibility subsystem though.

EDIT: just read that its a tiler, so that might be a 1 billion effective pixels. is that 8 texture units on 1 pipe? with 4x overdraw thats what the stats would look like for a 250MHz part.

EDIT2: i should really read the whole article, apparently its not a tiler

the notebook market is about the only one Trident still has its foot in...

they hire a new batch of engineers or something?

The question is, WHEN DID THEY EVER HIRE ENGINEERS....?

They had some good ones A LONG TIME AGO......if this does what they say it can, I see good things....

Now we need a desktop counterpart. I really want to see both nvidia and ATI slapped around even if its only temporary
