So, what's going on here?

Yes, I live in the bay area. I own a BMW. I rent a tiny house as of right now. Sort of - it's a 2-story in-law-ish unit. But, hey, I have my own yard and garden and it's cheap... gigabit internet too. Thanks AT&T.

Soon I'll probably go from owning 0 motorcycles to 2. Getting one for free from a coworker. (An abandoned 1993 Honda CBR900RR - semi-collectable...) And I'll probably pick up a SV650S w/ ABS when I find a decent deal.

As far as income, yes, I make over 100k. Only about 140k right now. I'm in the 1% for my age but that that's like saying I'm in the 1% for toddlers. I work at a startup. Looking to jump ship to Google/Microsoft/Facebook/etc because there's no real easy way to get to 250k+ anywhere else and my goal is 300k by 35 for the moment. (Basically, stay in the top 1% for my age) That is really what it takes to have a comparable quality of life as compared to other major metropolitan areas. Mind you, that's without home ownership. To own a home, I'd have to make about 400-500k. Not impossible - just prohibitive.

Still don't recommend a BMW. It's really expensive and it seems every month there is something major that needs replacing or repair. New tires, new brakes, new fluids, new water pump, new charge pipe, new flex disc, etc.

I've lived in the bay area permanently for about 2 years now. Before it was off and on. AKA, the struggle.

As far as the suit thing goes, yes, I have a 3-piece suit. It fits well. I have another 3-piece suit too... look at me, suits. And I have more dress shirts than I know what to do with.

Here's what I look like sometimes if you all are so curious: https://imgur.com/a/6tVh4

I have to admit it sounds like you've made it big. Congrats. I can't even imagine being in a position where I could make 140k let alone 300. 80k is going to have to do if I don't want to deal with being in management. You look like a CEO in that suit tbh. 😛

I feel like I need to upgrade my trash can and vacuum now.

Compare the cost of living where he is to where you are, though.

Congrats kid, now stop wasting the $$$ you make and hopefully start saving so you can retire at an early age.
Look like you gained "some" weight. Nice haircut and glasses. 😉😉😉

I'm certain that normalized with cost of living, you're probably on-par or better off financially.
