Because he's single and he buys used cars. He's already mastered one of life's best financial lesson. Let someone else eat the new car depreciation.

He just needs to be rebecome monster and get his house foreclosed and he'll be just as baller as Alky!

I actually I wonder if he ever settled. He was traveling around like a chicken with no head blowing all his savings trying to find a job. If true, he did end up landing a super good gig though that pays 100k. But I don't know if that was true or not. If it is, kudos to him it means he's doing way better than I am.

But kudos to him actually. While you're young you gotta do what you gotta do.

Or you'll have a terrible midlife crisis.

I traveled a fackton after i got laid off. I only had 20k I'm savings and blew half of them in 63 day USA cross country trip.

That was one of the best decision of my life. It built me up much.

If I had posted that here in 2007 I would've been flamed and back by the basement dwellers here.

You gotta live life while young. I can't do that sh*t today and it would be festering inside me until I finally retire to do it.

Any crazy experiences on your trip? It's kind of sad to think that the vast majority of Americans probably haven't seen their whole country first-hand, me included.

Nothing crazy in the traditional sense, I wasn't raped or found some underground orgy. I was never in danger either. But it's indeed absolutely crazy in the sense that after being an office drone, every day was a new experience of my life. That alone was INSANE. I truly felt I was paving my life day by day on my own.
  • Drove 63 days, 12,3500~ miles, started in Northeast to Keywest, then Texas, Grand Canyon area, Cali, Mount Rushmore, Chicago, and back.
  • Took 5,000 pics
  • One thing I realized is that lots of people travel for an extended time. I stayed in hostels to save $. Lots of European kids visit US to explore our amazing & diverse climates. One night I was staying up late with these 3 european girls (1 from germany, sweden, and somewhere else). We shared stories, talked politics, etc, in the Hostel common area. I didn't get ass, I don't know why that was memorable. Perhaps because it was the first time of the trip where the place was BRAND NEW to me (Philadelphia).
  • I was on the verge of tears driving by Las Cruces, NM. I wrote down the exact mountain/hill in my journal with directions. Absolutely breath taking.
  • On my way to Key West, on the beautiful bridges skipping Florida keys, I pulled over to chat with a dad & son fishing together. They live in Miami area and it was fascinating to me that locals get to do this like it's a no big deal. It's absolutely gorgeous. He caught a blowfish out of those gorgeous turquoise waters, first time seeing it in my life.
  • The best time of my trip was my then-booty-call joined me on the trip for 10 nights of amazing fun - Grand Canyon, Page, Bryce Canyon, Glenn Canyon, Zion NP, and partied hard in Vegas.
  • California is a gorgeous state. The whole Pacific Coast Highway between LA & SF should be a natural treasure.
  • Met couple of strangers and bar-crawled in New Orleans.
  • Went to an absolute no-name rural town in Texas. I think it was nearby Lulling. The town was literally 5x5 blocks and 2 bars. I've always wanted to visit a desolate townie bar. And I did. The locals were very friendly to me (they knew everyone, it's a small ass town). I was the only non-white kid.
  • So so many more to list.

With your mission to revive ATOT, I think you know what you must now do. Time to drop that "so many more to list" on a thread. Copious pictures requested.

One thing I genuinely learned is that doing anything is 100x more fun with you're sharing that experience with someone. We are social animals. Sharing it with someone at that time, then share eye contact, then talking through it, the wow'ing together through it, then reminiscence together for eternity = THAT makes it 100x better.

When I was traveling remote areas where I wasn't visiting friends or talking to strangers, it was lonely as fack. It's a great experience, but kinda feels somber and boring although you appreciate the thing very much.

As I recall, he landed a gig in San Jose that pays six figures, and quickly discovered that rent and taxes consumed most of that. I could be remembering someone else though, I'm old and sometimes get the vapors.

I think he got stuck in his own internet bespoke suit: https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/buying-a-suit-and-such.2455170/page-6

One of my top 5 fav threads. fwiw.

IDK, I'm on team TridenT for that particular thread. A lot of what I'm seeing in there is a bunch of antiquated thinking, such as ordering a suit made to order online being ill-advised. Now, I personally go to SuitSupply for my suits, but T's point still stands.

That said, I wouldn't come to a tech forum for fashion advice. Most of you fulls are somewhere on the spectrum lol.

Screw that, Zeze needs to hit the road and live blog back to ATOT.
