Tricks for getting rid of pet odors and stains

palindrome

Senior member
My fiance and I were dog sitting for my parents who were visiting southern Europe for their 25th anniversary. We had the dogs for a little over a month and discovered a secret pee spot hidden between 2 pieces of furniture, where the dogs had gone multiple times... Anyone know of any tricks short of replacing the carpet and padding to get rid of the stain and smell?

Try soaking the area with urine odor/stain remover. You can get the stuff at Petco or Petsmart.

I've tried shampooing and using pet stain remover. Doesn't get everything. The carpet still has a yellowish/green look to it and it still definitely smells.

You can try this stuff called "Nature's Miracle", I've heard it works really well.

Reviews look promising. Now I just need to find somewhere that carries it locally. If anyone knows of anywhere, I'm in the Charlotte area.

no you are screwed.

In fact, if you lift the carpet up, you will see that the padding is probably soaked a few feet in diameter and only a little bit shows up on the actual carpet.

That's what I'm afraid of, but I'm willing to spend 30 bucks on this miracle stuff before I spend 700-800 on replacing the carpet in this room...

when you say shampoo are u using spray?
or a real machine.
when you have pets and carpet, always invest in a carpet shampoo machine.

all those machines only clean the carpet, not the padding. The padding is what smells, everything else will just mask the odor.

You don't have to replace everything, just lift the carpet and cut out the padding in that area, then do a steam clean. Viola.
