Edit: As noted below, Tribes 2 is going to be re-released soon with various improvements, and apparently will be released as Jewel Case software for $10 or so. If you don't "need" it now, you might want to wait for the re-release.
 
Just buy the updated Tribes 2 re-release (October) for $10 as that is what the price will be when it comes out.
Not a great deal if you consider that 🙂

Sierra is going to re-release Tribes 2 in a discounted jewel case without box including the latest official patch (released just 3 days ago on September 25 for download and September 26 for autoupdate through Tribes 2 .......a hefty 87.7 meg download at that) on October 4 for just $10.

Though its not in the cool retailed box version, I'd much rather pay for the one with the latest official patch as its very convenient.

Heh went looking around on info for Tribes 2 cause of this post and then saw the above info on my search. Wouldn't have bothered if not for your post FPSguy.

Just to add some more info. about the re-released version of tribes2 w/ the latest patch.

The latest patch also includes two new additions.

One is a new mod is called classic. And anyone who is familiar with both T1 and T2 knows that there was a dramatic difference in the physics and style of play.

Classic mod brings back the feel/play of Tribes1. It's been a semi-big hit amongst the tribes community since it's release. Also with the inclusion of Classic is a map pack, I'm not sure how many maps it includes, but I'm almost positive it includes more than 10 new maps.

Then we have what is called Team Rabbit 2

It could almost be considered a stand alone because of it's unique gameplay and style. It is definitely recieving a lot of praise from the commnity and people seem to be loving it.

Just a warning though, Team Rabbit 2 has a steep learning curve. It's not your typical join in and run and twitch/kill everyone. The more you play it though, the better you get, and it keeps getting better and better 🙂

And if you don't want to buy the re-release w/ new patch, and you already own tribes2, the new patch is available as a free download(I'm not sure that sierra has made it available thru the auto-updater yet, but they promised it would be available via the auto-updater shortly).
