My new computer came with several software trials - one of which is MS Office 2007.

I have my disc for Office 2003 Pro -

First, can I used these disc to install on the new computer since I installed it on my old one?
Second, do I need to - or would it be recommended to - uninstall the trial program before installing the older program?

Would the answers to the above apply to any other software trials that may be on the new computer that I have disc for?

Tks and have a great day - jb

1) I would recommend that you uninstall from the old system. Doublecheck the TOS though

2) Is the trial installed or just present? If installed, you should uninstall it first.

Hello, CC -

Tks for the reply -

First, what is TOS?

Second, not sure what you mean by, "uninstall from the old system" The trials are on the new computer.

The trial is installed - at least I have an office folder with dozens of folders and files in it - some like Excel, PowerPoint, etc which would be part of office.

And there would be no problem using the same install disc I used to install on my old computer? Didn't know if MS picked up that you had already installed the program on another computer or not.

Again, tks - take care - jb

TOS = Terms of Service.

if you already have the full version, uninstall the trial crap first and then install the full version; just to limit any thing that can go wrong.

You will have to uninstall as you can't upgrade from a newer version (2007) to an older one(2003). There is a good chance that you will have to activate by phone and they will ask how many systems is that license installed on. You can only have it on one system at a time, also if the older version you have was a OEM version ie came with a factory built computer you (may) not be able to activate it on another build. I have not seen the need to upgrade to Office 2007 myself but I have read there are a few file compatibility issues depending on how document you made were saved in 2007,, you may need to convert them to work with 2003 and you will need a working install of 2007 to do that as well.

Tks all,

uninstalled the 2007 trial and installed the 2003 without problem.

Do have a question - I copied/pasted all my desktop icons from old computer to new one but only about half of them were there.

The only ones that were there were program and web site icons -

In checking what I was missing, it seems that NO web icons I had that was done under FireFox was in the file nor were any of the icons I had for files either.

Any suggestions as to what happened or where they went or how to get them back?

He has not attempted to pimp anything.

It seems like a sound bite for something, but nothing materialized, therefore no foul.
