Valve will aparently offer a free weekend long trial of DOD

Is this game any good? I wasn't a fan of the original, any point in preloading it if I didn't like it?
 
I recently started playing this game again after not having played it for a few months.

Basically, the concept of the game is exactly the same. The levels and guns are the same as the original.

The real improvement in Source is the graphics and the engine. Everything looks and feels much more realistic than the original.

In short, I love this game. I'd strongly recommend it to anyone who loves FPS's, and with a free trial, why not give it a shot?

If you didn't like the original, you probably won't like the new one. Gameplay is pretty much identical, just with better graphics.

Only for the weekend!? Don't waste your time or $20 on DOD. Invest in Call of Duty 2 and have a full single player game plus WW2 themed multiplayer

It was great when it was a free mod for the original Half Life a few years back. Being charged for it now is a different story.

Very worth the $20 IMO. I'd have paid $50 if that's what it cost.

Just my $.02.
 
I'm going to give it a shot. I haven't been able to decide whether I want this so now I'll get some idea before I plunk down a whopping 20 dollars!
 
Newer HL2 games come with DOD:S, but the people that bought it earlier get the shaft and have to buy it? Valve pisses me off....

Agreed, they pissed a lot of people by doing that.
But this game is worth much more than $20 they are asking.
 
I wore out DoD a long time ago. After being a BF2 junky though, I don't see how I could go back to that. Not nearly the amount of depth 🙁.

Great for those who haven't played DoD before tho.
 
DoD:s is fun close quaters battles. BF2 is a different bread all together and doesn't excel at foot to foot combat(hello ice skates). Its a great game, but so is DoD.

Originally DOD:S was not even going to be sold separately.

Be happy that you're able to buy it for (only) $20.
 
theyve been advertising this deal just about everywhere, ide be shocked if you didnt know this by now. Good post tho for the uninformed.
 
OP: You should update your title to reflect a couple things.
a) DoD S not DoD they are differant games
b) Spell out the game as Day of Defeat: Source as well as the abreviation of DoD S

As for your question:
I hated the original DoD. Didn't play it much at all. I was more a CS or TFC guy (more CS usually). DoD S hooked me, it was that much better. Now I hardly ever play CS anymore, DoD S is where its at 🙂
