Tri bikes for regular road use?

I'm not training for any triathlons any time soon, but prefer the aero bar riding position and the aero dymanic advantages of a tribike..

I'm looking into possibly something like this: http://www.bikesdirect.com/pro...strel/talon_08_tri.htm

Or something in that range with a carbon frame fiber and Ultregra/Dra-Ace uality type components.

Anyone here use a tribike just for regular riding use?

I wish I had the money for a nice road bike.

But I blew them all on Dvader's grandma at the reservation.

I have the perfect bike for you, it really is awesome. Fast, comfortable, sturdy, and at a great price.

just wait for the update.

I have some friends who ride time trial bikes as regular road bikes...really, they are just regular road bikes with the time trial bar setup though. There really isn't a whole lot to be gained with that setup (road bike with TT bars) and you have a bit of extra weight with it. Unless you are riding time trials on it I'd just recommend a regular road bike. Dedicated time trial bikes don't handle as well as regular road bikes, they are more about the aero position and getting the fastest time possible on a short course.

Buy a road bike and add aero bars. You'll have proper gearing and STI shift levers. TT bikes have taller gearing, bar end shifters, hammer head brake levers, and minimal hand positions.

Drops and STI and aero bars will do you much better.

Get a Cervelo S1 (née Soloist Team), slap on some aero bars and flip the seatpost. You get the best of both worlds that way: want a regular road bike again? Flip the post back around -- it's made for that.
