($225) so If I can get it through Amazon and all of the rebates it would only be like $150 ...not bad ... but I was thinking of the Samsung I-500 instead ...anyone see a review for this phone...???

Let me know if that deal worked out for you. PM me if you have more information. Here is a review of the i500 phone. It is running PalmOS 4.1 and does not have a SD slot. If that isn't a factor for you it might be the way to go.

Im pretty sure it is going to work, I just just called sprint and made them document the call ....they said i would get the credit when I sent my phone in.... the I-500 may be the better option for me but the price for the Treo is just to good ...I can always do another trade down the road....Also in the pic of the I-500 it has a SD expansion slot ...probably a typo

I returned mine because I can't deal with the 160x160 resolutions. Pictures and web looks like crap. Today's standard is at least 480x320.

Is this for new line connection only??? I already have a sprint contract and I called them to see if they would give me the same deal
and they just laughed at me and basically told me to go jump in the lake! I was a little pissed at them and told them I have been with
them for 5 years and this is how they treat their long time customers....I'm irked right now!!

Yah how does an existing Sprint PCS customer who's contract has been completed go about getting a new phone? All the Sprint PCS deals on phones seem to be for new customers only? Do we really have to threaten to leave to Verizon each time our contract is up to get a deal on a phone?

For everyone who says Sprint sucks, wake up and look at a coverage map.

Sprint's network has changed drastically in the last 2 years. I'm not here to say Sprint is the be all of wireless. In my area, Sprint is king. The only one that can even come close is Verizon, but then you need to realize, while your in analog on Verizon, your on digital with Sprint. I have both Sprint and Verizon. Needless to say, carry my Sprint phone 100% of the time and my VZW phone rarely comes out to play. Here on the east coast, Sprint is terrific. In the midwest and certain parts of the west coast, yes they suck. I can tell you however, the I can drive from Pittsburgh to Ocean City, MD and be off of the digital network (IE, roaming) for roughly 5 minutes. I was roaming a LOT more with my VZW phone. And with my buddy with his T Mobile phone, he only had service when we went through a major city.

But, OTOH, Tmobile in our area blows ass. And Cingular doesn't even service our area (Pittsburgh!!! We aren't exactly a small little city!).

As for the Treo, terrific handset. I had the opportunity to play with one in depth about 2 months ago.

But again, I digress. Sprint was first to the table with a color phone, downloadable ringers \ games \ apps \ etc, first to the table with a video phone, first to the table with a camera phone. Hell, Consumer Reports said Sprint had the only easy to use camera phone (Sanyo 8100). And their plans are rocking hardcore right now too.

Of course, if I lived in Podunk, MO, I'd be singing a different tune...

Ok now for some hardball.... they now said that the warrantys would not work because i am an existing customer ... so I cancelled my account as of my next billing cycle. Next step is to wait until tomorrow and contact retention and tell them about my delima and that i don't really want to leave sprint after 5 years of service but it just doesn't seem fair that the phone deal is only available for new people, if that doesn't work.. I will keep calling until i get the right person .... and as of a last resort ..I will cancel my cancellation order (keeping my acct)... and they will have won the battle ...but not the war.

Right. The Cingular/T-Mobile/AT&T version will work overseas, but the Sprint one will not.

Right. The Cingular/T-Mobile/AT&T version will work overseas.

And only if you get the phone unlocked, simple procedure but a necessary one. ;)

Sprint DOES have an upgrade policy. It started October 15th. If you've had your handset for 18 months, you are eligible to buy a new handset (for retail price) and then get a mail in rebate on it. I appologize, but I don't have the rebate form offhand, so i'm not sure what the rebate on the Treo would be.

Now, if you haven't had your current handset for 18 months, you're out of luck. That applies to pretty much any cellular carrier.

Of course, this is the price we pay for being early adopters and tech freaks. Even if Sprint would have had an upgrade program 5 years ago, I still wouldn't be eligible. I end up getting a new phone every 4-6 months anyhow. Things change to fast ;)

Yeah im like you ...I got my A500 like 6months ago ....But here is the kicker ...i just called retention (sp) because i cancelled my service as of my new billing cycle (2 weeks to go) and because its in the computer retention gets involved ...The woman specifically told me and put it in writing, well notes on the acct that I was eligible for the rebate... so i uncancelled my acct ... once I get my rebate I will send in my old phone speak to a different person and get my trade in of $225..

I dont have a problem with Sprint service either. Their coverage has been good fo rme except a few remote locations where other phones won't even work at all. Plus i can always call in and they give me a free month service or some sort of credit. And since I'm off the contract now, they take my threats to cancel even more seriously. Been with them for 6 years now. Even when i messed up my phone last time, I still got them to give me a new one even though I didn't have insurance. I did that with the orginal 8500 (2 years ago), and recently got my Sph-i300 replaced.

Only gripe is that T-Mobile had 1000 anytime minutes for $39.99 whereas w/Sprint I'm paying $45 for 650 anytime, but I do get free Sprint to Sprint. Then again, I would hate to go on contract again. Also, USAA customers get additional discounts with Sprint.

And all this is coming from a T-Mobile/Verzin dealer :) soon to add Nextel and AT&T.

Treo 600 will be my next phone. Any way of getting that rebate anyone? PM me.

Davi

ps. anyone need accessories? :D

yeah even I am looking out for a way to squeeze the rebate from Sprint

My 1 year rentention should be up this month end and I want sprint back on the bargaining table with me.

Last time I took that POS LG 5350 and had sprint replace it twice and then they give me another refurbished POS Samsung N400. Imagine having to change 3 phones in the past year and as I didnt have the data cable I had to manually enter all the numbers.

Now I wouldnt settle for anything less than the Treo 600 with the rebate and free vision to tout with it !!!!

I've been with them for 3 years now !

Has anybody gotten them to extend the rebate to people who already have service and are renewing the contract ?

Just a little follow up .... I called up sprint retention and had to hang up on 3 ppl before i got the right person. Basically this is how it went .... I told her that my phone sucked and I wanted to get a new phone but was dismayed to find out that if i switched to At&T I can get the Treo 600 for $399. I didn't mention that I needed a old treo. Well, to make a long story short ... She instantly credited my account $200 and told me that I am eligible for a existing customer rebate of $100 for a 1 year contract when I buy the phone at the store. On top of that ... I worked out a deal with an existing customer svc person about 2 weeks ago that they would allow me to upgrade my phone ...I would buy my phone when I sent my existing phone it I would be credited $225 (its the A500).

$599 For phone from sprint
-$200 instant credit
-$100 mail in rebate... 1 yr contract
-$225 credit for my phone
----------
= $74 + tax

all you need to do is get the right person in the RETENTION dept.. I needed to call back 3 times everyone else said sorry there is nothing I can do... also don't worry if you have an existing service agreement. My existing one was supposed to end in June of 2004 ... I just had to do a new on that now ends in Dec 2004.

Good luck....

I agree its subpar compared to highend PDAs. But for a PDA phone with full phone features its adequate at the least.

Why the hell dont they have a standard policy on this rather then giving people the runaround?

I think its better that they don't ... I have been able to work out some sick deals over the years ... this is my 4th credit over $100 ...I also have never paid for a phone and get an new one every 6 months and when I change my plan I have 400 extra minutes and first incoming minute free that carry over for life ... woot

Just thought I'd update this thread - I've had this service for over a month - and honetly I haven't a single complaint. I don't know if you've noticed, but Sprint PCS customer service reps are a lot friendlier, nicer, and capable of facilitating users than even 12 months ago, which was when I swore off Sprint...

And I still absolutely love this phone. Combined with a 45$ 1000 anytime minute area-wide plan, this is a fantastic deal. Not too late to get it from Amazon...

Absolutely agree. And new Treo looks like a decent "machine" :)
