Ok so everyday at 5am I run for 2.5 miles at 5 miles an hour
and every after noon at 4pm I do the same again.

I am wondering if this is better then doing the fat burn programs on the treadmill where they have you put in your information and give you a target heartrate (126) and then adjust the settings for that?

I want to lose weight, I want to lose fat. Please help...

a lot of ppl here will recommend weightlifting to lose the fat and lower your weight. I started the rippletoe program approx one and a half months ago, and have seen the fat shed. I have lost some weight too, about 5 lbs. i also am adjusting my caloric intake to help stimulate fat loss as well.

could you help us by giving us your body stats?

h
w
age
body fat % (if you know it off hand)

and they will be able to help you out tremendously

How's your diet? I've been dropping pounds like crazy with minimal exercise (10-15 minutes a day, 5 days a week) plus a really good diet.

12:00pm Lunch I would eat more at lunch, starving yourself will casue your metabolism to slow down, making it harder to lose FAT

You are actually at a pretty good weight if you wanted to concentrate on weight lifting. That's my opinion anyway.

Why not start lifting? It'd be great for your cardio, and overall strength. I was about 25lbs heavier than you when I started and I have seen tremendous gains as far as my overall health is concerned. Are you willing to join a gym?

I was given this link and it's the best advice i'd ever been given for starting and novice weightlifting. I followed this to the T and have to say that it's been very successful for me.

It looks like you've got a good handle on the diet, that just takes discipline to maintain. i personally have found it hard to maintain as i am a foodie.

Good Luck and keep us informed of your progress whichever way you decide to go. You'll find a lot of encouragement here.

I actually eat more at my 9:30 break because I am more hungry at that time then at lunch, and I am already a member of a gym

For better weight loss you might want to try some high intensity interval training. Unless you have joint problems, you'll see far more cutting doing it, than running at a normal pace.

Definitely HIIT. That 'fat burning zone' thing has been debunked in several places, because it only considers the effect (fat burn vs cardio conditioning) in the span of the workout, when the real effect period should be 24 hours or something similar. Higher intensity is the way to go.

I've always been a big believer in HIIT, and have used it with great results. However, there are those who disagree about its superiority. For example, Lyle McDonald has a series of blog posts dealing with why it's not really any better for fat loss:

This is the conclusion to the series. It doubles as a TOC to the rest, except for one post:

The conclusion to the conclusion

If you have some to spare, I'd recommend reading the whole thing. (by clicking on the links in the conclusion). If you're short on time, just brows the conclusion post. If you're really short on time, just read this post in the series. If you're really, really short on time, here is my summary:

For fat loss, HIIT is presumed to be better because it burns calories throughout the rest of the day. Problem is, this only amounts to like ~15 calories, even when doing very hard intervals.

I don't have enough knowledge to disagree/agree with him, but I just wanted to point out there is another opinion on the matter.

Make sure you keep your heartrate in the target zone for 30 minutes, you're 26, it should be between 137 and 155 or something. Also eat less calories then you put burn and you should start losing weight.

I lost 3% of my BF and gained 2 lbs of muscle over a 2 week period of burning 400 calories 5 days a week and eating right. So it can be done.

2 lb muscle in 2 weeks? :Q I don't think it was all muscle.

With that much running if you did it consistently and had any sort of reasonable diet I don't see how you wouldn't lose weight. Unless you have the metabolism of a walrus.

Use it.

Seriously. Put everything you eat into fitday and see where you're at. HIIT isn't the magic fat loss exercise everybody makes it out to be; however, you're diet is.

Also, if you ask me it's a lot easier to take a few minutes to put my meals into fitday than it is to run my ass off for 30 minutes.

So put what you eat into fitday and post it here (calories, and grams of protein, carbs, and fat). Some stats (bodyweight, height, age, etc.) would also be helpful in addition to your whole workout routine and goals.
