Ellipticals can add resistance. Treadmills add resistance through speed and incline.
I vote ellipticals since they're better for your joints. On the other hand, I have trouble staying on either. I prefer to walk or run outside when possible. Hauling my huge dorito-filled @ss around is better than anything a machine can offer. 😀
