Hi,

My uncle just asked me what treadmill I think he should get because I'm sort of the answer man in the family. The problem is that I have no freaking clue and wondered if there were some fitness experts here to help.

Here is what I'm looking for...

He needs something somewhat durable because he's not a small guy a 6'6" and about 280-300 lbs. He wants something that will fold up out of the way when he's not using it. It doesn't need to be full of bells and whistles, just that it has the basic stuff found on most treadmill's. He'd like to spend no more than $1k for it if that's possible.

Does something like this exist? If so, I need your recommendations on what to look at for him.

TIA,

Sal

Just my opinion here, but a treadmill would be a bad choice for a guy that big. You want something a little lower impact like an exercise bike or an elliptical trainer. The ellipse machine would be preferrable. They offer higher intensity workouts, with much, much lower impact than running/walking. They also have fewer things to break in them and will last longer as well.

I'd say look into a used/refurbished Precor eliptical trainer for the $$.

But, if you must go treadmill, look into Schwin. They offer the best bang to quality ration IMHO.
