travelling on airplane, do you pack your suit into a suitcase or carry it on?

How big of a plane are you going on? I've only flown within CA so I get 737's and the like with 2-3 seats in a row per side of a single isle.

I'd get one of those suit bags and carry on and place the bag on top of others' carryons.

I use a garment bag and get the airline to put in one of those cardboard garment bag boxes then it goes into the luggage hold.
