Next week I'm traveling to do an on site interview. This will be the first time I need to fly on an airplane and bring a suit with me.

Do I need one of those special garments bags or is there a way to pack it in with the rest of my stuff?

This is probably the only time in the next year or two I will travel with a suit so I'd rather not buy a whole new bag if necessary.

If you don't want a garment bag, you could probably just cover it in plastic like the dry cleaner's does and fold it in the overhead compartment. Should make the trip just fine.

Ball it up and toss it in an old gym bag!

I would say that you can do what TheVrolok says (but only as an alternative to my idea). Just know that if you need to, you can actually iron a suit. Use very low heat and don't iron it for very long, but it can be done with no harm if the proper care is taken.

You could just wear it on the flight 🙂
Otherwise, I like to roll mine up and it usually comes out mostly wrinkle free. Just some touch up with an iron and you're good to go.

Any hotel worth staying in should have an iron and board. Or you can go to the thrift store and find a garment bag for probably 3 bucks. I see them all the time. If its a wool suit, it won't wrinkle too bad in any event. I stuffed a suit into my motorcycle luggage for a trip to a wedding once. The steaming bathroom trick sorta works (steam smooths out the wrinkles) but not very well.

i usually just either wear mine, or I put it in my suitcase. its only going to be folded for a 4-6 hours. hang it up as soon as you get checked in and you should be fine.
